Therapeutic Approach

The Play Therapy Center of Oxford, LLC provides psychotherapy services to children ranging in age from 2-10 years old using an integrative approach to therapy. Each child is assessed and evaluated as an individual with unique life experiences. A thorough history is gathered about the child’s biological, psychological, and social circumstances, and after meeting and getting acquainted with the child an appropriate intervention is developed based on each child's unique needs. A foundational approach is used as a starting point with every child, including the a child-centered approach (Rogerian), a strengths-based approach (Saleebey), and I practice from an Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) framework (Siegel). Through play therapy, children learn to express their feelings, effectively communicate with others, change negative behavior patterns, develop problem-solving skills, and learn different ways to relate to others.
